Free streaming options for Canadian teams in the 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Today the 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs begin!

CBC has full details on the broadcast schedule for round 1 playoff matchups, showing which series and games are broadcast on CBC, and which games are on Sportsnet.

With five Canadian teams, there is not enough air time on CBC to broadcast all Canadian games in round 1. The short of it:

Eastern Conference

  • Toronto vs. Washington will be broadcast on CBC and streamed on CBC.ca
  • Montreal vs. New York Rangers will be broadcast on CBC (with game 3 scheduled on Sportsnet) and streamed on CBC.ca
  • Pittsburgh vs. Columbus will be broadcast on Sportsnet
  • Ottawa vs. Boston will be broadcast on Sportsnet

Western Conference

  • Calgary vs. Anaheim will be broadcast on CBC and streamed on CBC.ca
  • Edmonton vs. San Jose will be broadcast on Sportsnet
  • Chicago vs. Nashville will be broadcast on Sportsnet
  • Minnesota vs. St Louis will be broadcast on Sportsnet

If you don't have cable and want a streaming option for the Sportsnet games, consider giving Sportsnet NOW a try.

If you do have Sportsnet on cable, note that Sportsnet NOW is free with your cable subscription login. With Sportsnet NOW you can watch additional games on a second screen such as a laptop, tablet, or even phone. This is a great way to fully immerse yourself in the always hectic round 1 of the playoffs.
